The design-build team of Bryan Construction & RTA/MOA were honored to lead a visioning workshop with Academy District 20’s new Chinook Trail Middle School. The workshop was designed around building and design with a concept which develops the facility around the wellness of people first.

The goal is to provide a more enhanced productive and engaging environment for students and employees.

The four-hour workshop involved stakeholder representatives who identified themselves as “one who is involved in or affected by a course of action”.  The stakeholder groups were defined/grouped into Owners (D20 Admin, Bond Admin); Operators (Maintenance, Facilities, Custodial, Security); Occupants (Students, Teachers, Parents of students); Community (Surrounding neighbors, Building Department, Colorado Springs Utilities); and Delivery Team (Contractor, Architect, Consultants, Engineers).

“This was an extremely productive process for everyone involved,” said Doug Woody, Bryan Construction Commercial Group Executive, “We gained a tremendous amount of information from parents, students, teachers, employees, designers and we were able to share information from all viewpoints from all the stakeholder groups.  This visioning will help steer the design decisions for the project as we move forward.”

Academy District 20 awarded Bryan Construction, MOA Architecture, and RTA Architecture the opportunity to construct Chinook Trail Middle School. To ensure community funds are being invested wisely, the $41 million budget is fully inclusive of all design and construction components. Currently the project is in the design and preconstruction planning phase.

Physical construction is expected to begin around February 2018 and will wrap up in time for the 2019 -2020 school year.
