Bryan Construction redeveloped the site of the historic Van Briggle and Transportation Shop buildings at Colorado College, adding new masonry walls, a garden area, landscaping, parking and street improvements to create a memorial to artists Artus and Anne Van Briggle.
The memorial includes hand-carved limestone elements, with custom cast-bronze insets that depict the artisans working on their pottery. Custom mosaic tile renderings in the center of the main memorial wall tell the story of the Van Briggles’ lives. In front of the memorial is the Schlessman Garden – an area that was created by relocating an existing parking lot and placing new concrete paving, landscaping and lighting elements to display both the garden and the tribute wall at night.
Other work included the creation of a turn lane from Glen Avenue to Uintah, new ornamental metal fencing with gates, and drainage improvements.
