- Biophilic Design: Biophilic design brings nature indoors by integrating natural elements like plants, light, and organic materials. It enhances the workspace's aesthetic appeal and promotes employee well-being and productivity by creating a connection with nature.
- Collaborative Spaces: Offices now incorporate collaborative spaces to encourage interaction and idea sharing. These spaces can range from open-plan areas with shared worktables to designated collaboration zones with whiteboards and comfortable seating.
- Wellness Rooms: These dedicated spaces provide employees with a quiet and peaceful environment for relaxation and meditation, taking a break from their work, recharging their minds, and reducing stress.
- Flexible Workstations: Fixed desks are no longer standard in modern office designs. Instead, office renovations are now focused on providing flexible and adaptable workstations for employees. This means that height-adjustable desks, movable partitions, and modular furniture allow individuals to customize their workspaces according to their preferences and tasks.
- Technology Integration: Technology plays a significant role in modern office renovations. Integrated communication platforms, state-of-the-art conference room setups, smart whiteboards, and interactive displays facilitate seamless communication and flow of information. Companies are using technology to bridge the gap between physical and virtual workplaces to make each employee feel empowered and connected.
By embracing innovative designs, businesses can stay ahead of the curve and create spaces that cater to the evolving needs of their workforce.
🚲 SRAM is a leading bike parts manufacturer with over 20 locations across six continents and 2,700 employees worldwide. Their mission is to innovate and improve bike components to enhance the riding experience. The company was founded and is run by people who love bicycles. 🚵
Bryan Construction was chosen to renovate SRAM’s new Research and Development facility using a pre-existing building at the base of Ute Valley Park in Colorado Springs. The location was selected for its accessibility to biking trails and picturesque views. It was also close to where many employees live. The renovated facility is 100,000 square feet and features modern, unique, and Colorado-inspired designs. The custom cliff wall, for instance, is made of Baltic Birch panels imported from Ukraine.
At SRAM, one of the highlights is the engineered isolation slab with steel plates used to test suspension parts. This slab is specifically designed to test the shocks’ endurance by subjecting them to immense force. To ensure the proper functioning of this setup, engineers had to calculate and confirm that there were enough anchor holds and tension areas in place to withstand the consistent pressure being applied during the testing process.
The open gathering room is multifunctional and designed for collaboration. The building is flexible, with most desks and equipment on wheels for easy rearrangement. Other building features include a Bike Barn, bicycle wash stations, electric bike charging stations, a custom steel logo wall, and a display of all bike parts created by the company since 1987.
Employees can work in either secluded, quiet areas or team collaboration spaces. The custom exterior nano walls can be opened to host events.
