Although it is attached to the high school, the building will be a K-12 facility, and students of all ages will utilize the new spaces in some capacity. Furthermore, Calhan will serve as a rentable space for other schools, offering their students opportunities for hands-on learning while also generating additional revenue for the Calhan School District by leasing the facility.
The district has been limited by its old welding station, which was a converted shed that could only accommodate one welder at a time. The new facility offers much more space and equipment for students to learn and will also host Family Consumer Science and Vocational Agriculture programs. This expansion and improvement will enhance Calhan High School students’ career and employment opportunities.
