The Rapid Attack, Identification, Detection, and Reporting System – RAIDRS – is a state-of-the-art space control system that detects and reports attacks on both ground and space-based elements of operational space systems.
Bryan Construction built the RAIDRS Space Control Facility at Peterson Air Force Base – a 47,423-square-foot, two-story structure with a basement. The building consists of several mixed-use areas that include open office areas, a high-bay maintenance garage, an exercise facility, and a Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF). The building’s foundation and structural-steel system was engineered and built to the Department of Defense’s “Design of Buildings to Resist Progressive Collapse” criteria.
A majority of the building is on a raised-access floor system, which is utilized for flexibility in the layout of furniture and equipment and also to serve an HVAC plenum for maximum thermal efficiency.
The project will be LEED Silver certified and was constructed using highly efficient materials for the thermal envelope, including insulated architectural metal panels, rigid thermal insulation sheathing, and close-cell spray-foam insulation.
