U.S. Air Force Academy Entry Gates

Project Description

Located at the U.S. Air Force Academy, this was a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers design-build project. This project provides a new canopy over the inbound and outbound lanes of traffic as well as existing guard house and guard booths at both the North and South gates to improve the security requirements and meet requirements detailed by UFC 4-022-01. Additionally, vehicle inspection areas were constructed with passive force protection features including an 18-inch-high wall and other landscaping features. All architecture is compatible with the USAFA design standards, as well as the existing facilities within the area.

Due to the high profile and high traffic volume of this location, a significant amount of coordination was communicated monthly, weekly and daily to ensure the construction plan was continuously aligned with the Academy Security, Civil Engineering and USACE personnel.
