USAFA Front Gates Force Protection

Colorado Springs

Located on the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) the Front Gates Force Protection project improved security to meet requirements for entry control facilities by the Department of Defense. At both North and South Gates, new canopies cover the traffic lanes, guard house, and guard booths offer protection from weather while allowing room for two vehicles per lane. Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) inspection areas, passive force protection, improved shoulders and landscaping, and screen parking at the Santa Fe Trail/Pass and Identification are additional aspects of construction. All architecture is compatible with the USAFA design standards, as well as the existing facilities within the area.
